Manchester United have been drawn in Group E for the 2022-23 Europa League alongside Real Sociedad, Sheriff Tiraspol and Omonia.

The Red Devils finished sixth in the Premier League table last term, which saw them directly qualify for the group stage of this season's Europa League.

The winners of each of the eight groups will advance to the last-16 stage of the competition, while the runners-up in each section meet the eight sides who finished third in the Champions League groups.

Man United have never taken on opposition from Moldova or Cyprus but will lock horns with Sheriff Tiraspol and Omonia respectively in this season's Europa League.

Sheriff navigated their way past Pyunik in the playoff round, with the two teams playing out back-to-back goalless draws in the two legs before the Moldovan outfit won via a penalty shootout.

Meanwhile, Omonia, who are managed by former Celtic head coach Neil Lennon, recorded a 4-0 aggregate victory over Gent to advance to the group stage.

Erik ten Hag's side will also take on Real Sociedad, who finished sixth in La Liga last season to qualify directly for the group stage of the competition.

The Red Devils faced the Basque outfit in the 2020-21 Europa League, recording a 4-0 victory in the away fixture, which took place in Turin, before playing out a goalless draw in the second leg, as the English club advanced to the last-16 stage of the competition.

Man United also tackled Real Sociedad during the 2013-14 Champions League, recording a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford before drawing 0-0 in Spain, with both fixtures taking place in the group stage.

Matchday one in the competition will be September 8, while the second set of group fixtures will take place one week later on September 15.

There will then be three matchdays in October (6, 13, 27) before the group stage draws to a close on November 3, with the season due to break for the 2022 World Cup.

Elsewhere in the competition, Arsenal have been drawn in Group A with PSV Eindhoven, Bodo/Glimt and FC Zurich, while Jose Mourinho's Roma are in Group C alongside Ludogorets, Real Betis and HJK Helsinki.

Man United will play three Premier League matches before the group stage gets underway, taking on Southampton, Leicester City and Arsenal in their next three fixtures in England's top flight.
