Manchester United's David Moyes concerned by Hong Kong pitch

Manchester United boss David Moyes admits that he is concerned about the state of the pitch in Hong Kong ahead of their final pre-season tour match on Monday.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has admitted that he is concerned by what state the pitch will be in when his side play in Hong Kong on Monday.

Hong Kong has experienced heavy rain in recent weeks, creating difficult surfaces for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and Manchester City in the Premier League Asia Cup on Wednesday.

Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen injured ankle ligaments due to the pitch and, with United scheduled to face Kitchee FC in the final game of their pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia, Moyes admits that he is worried about the impact it could have on his side.

"I do have concerns about the surface," he told reporters. "It is mainly due to the weather. That is an act of God. We can't do anything about that.

"But we will travel to Hong Kong and hope the conditions improve and the pitch is in a better state than it has been in recently."

United continued their pre-season preparations earlier today, scoring late to rescue a 2-2 draw with Cerezo Osaka.
