Experienced centre-back Raphael Varane is reportedly keen to leave Manchester United during next summer's transfer window to make the move to Saudi Arabia.

The former France international was linked with a switch to the Saudi Pro League during the recent market but is believed to have made it clear that he was not interested in leaving Old Trafford.

According to FootballTransfers, the situation has now changed, with Varane wanting a move away from Man United in 2024 in order to finish his career in Saudi Arabia.

The report claims that Al-Nassr, who boast the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks, have already contacted the defender to discuss a switch to the Saudi Pro League.

Varane allegedly wants to finish his career in the Middle East, with the Frenchman capable of commanding a huge salary and long-term contract, even at this stage of his career.

Al-Ittihad are believed to have shown the strongest interest in him over the summer, but Al-Nassr now appear to be at the head of the queue for his signature.

Varane has made nine appearances for Man United this season, but he was surprisingly named on the bench for the Manchester derby at Old Trafford last weekend.

Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag said that Varane was fit enough to start against Manchester City, but Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans featured in the middle of the defence.

The former Real Madrid defender was then missing against Newcastle United in the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening, with it being claimed that he was unwell.

Varane is back in the Man United squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with Fulham, and he is expected to return to the starting XI at Craven Cottage.

The defender only has another two years left to run on his contract at Old Trafford, and there are not believed to be any talks planned over an extension at this moment in time.

There is also uncertainty surrounding the long-term future of Maguire despite the England international recently managing to work his way back into the side.

Man United are expected to move for another centre-back next year, potentially one to play alongside Lisandro Martinez on a long-term basis.

Martinez struggled with foot pain in the early weeks of the campaign and then underwent a second operation of the year in a bid to fully address the problem that he first picked up back in April. body check tags ::
