Real Madrid stalwart defender Raphael Varane has dismissed transfer rumours linking him with an exit from the Bernabeu, amid reported interest from Manchester United.

The French international featured 41 times for Zinedine Zidane's side in all competitions during the just-completed season, but his contract with the Spanish giants is due to expire next summer.

It is believed that Florentino Perez would prefer to cash in on the centre-back in the coming months rather than lose their long-serving defender on a free transfer in 12 months.

Varane has been linked with a move to Man United, who are keen to strengthen their squad to challenge for trophies next season after missing out on the Europa League this week.

While on camp with the France national team ahead of the Euros this summer, Varane told reporters: "This is not the time to talk about my future, I am focused on the selection, on this Euro, it is normal and logical to ask the question and for my part it is normal and logical to focus on the upcoming deadlines.

"We are all human beings. We can think about it. As for my personal case, I am focused on the objectives that we have in the France team, it is not a subject that I will discuss every day in my room at Clairefontaine.

"I am focused on my goal, and now is not the time to discuss it. If I have to talk about it, it will be directly with the people concerned."

Varane joined Real Madrid in 2011 and has gone on to make 360 appearances for the club, winning four Champions League titles.
