Newcastle United are reportedly close to appointing Eddie Howe as the new manager of the football club.

The Magpies have been on the search for a new boss since Steve Bruce left by mutual consent two weeks ago, with Graeme Jones having taken charge temporarily since that point.

Howe has not been in charge of a club since his time with Bournemouth came to an end in August 2020 after the Cherries were relegated to the Championship.

However, BBC Sport has reported that he is now close to being appointed the new manager of Newcastle United, who currently sit 19th in the Premier League.

The Magpies are yet to win a game in the division this season and find themselves six points away from safety.
