Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Nottingham Forest head into Saturday's Championship fixture with Huddersfield Town having opted to part ways with manager Chris Hughton.

While Forest sit at the bottom of the standings, Huddersfield are in sixth spot after winning four of their last five matches.

Match preview

On the back of suffering a sixth league defeat in seven matches, it was somewhat inevitable that Forest would choose to sack Hughton in the hours after the loss to Middlesbrough.

Forest have still not conceded more than two goals in a game this season, but the manner of their latest setback meant that the veteran's position had become untenable.

The club's hierarchy, who remain under-fire from large section of the club's supporters, have announced that Steven Reid will take caretaker charge of the team.

However, there will be a demand for a permanent appointment to be made as soon as possible, particularly with the East Midlands outfit still four points adrift of safety.

Their next opponents were criticised last season with Carlos Corberan often failing to prove that he is the right man for the job at the John Smith's Stadium.

Nevertheless, the patience of the Huddersfield board is now being rewarded, Tuesday's 3-0 win at Blackpool leaving the Terriers in sixth position.

Five of their nine goals conceded came in the same match, and there is increasing confidence that Corberan is getting things right at both ends of the pitch.

Defender Matty Pearson tops the goalscoring charts with three strikes, but midfielder Sorba Thomas remains the star of the campaign with one goal and four assists.

While Corberan will opt to take one match at a time over the coming weeks, there is a window of opportunity to cement their place in the playoffs with a favourable schedule ahead of them.

Team News

After Huddersfield's blistering second half at Blackpool, Corberan may be prepared to stick with the same 11 players for this contest.

The Terriers were two goals ahead before defensive alterations were made, and that could lead to Daniel Sinani, Josh Koroma and Danny Ward remaining in the attack.

Naby Sarr may have to stay patient on the substitutes' bench after a clean sheet was recorded in the North-West, with Fraizer Campbell likely returning to the squad after being handed a rest in midweek.

Reid will almost certainly take the opportunity to shake up this Forest side, handing a recall to the likes of Joe Lolley and Joao Carvalho.

Xande Silva is an option in attack, while Cafu may get the nod over Ryan Yates in the centre of the pitch.

Huddersfield Town possible starting lineup:
Nicholls; Pearson, Lees, Colwill; Thomas, Hogg, O'Brien, Toffolo; Sinani, Ward, Koroma

Nottingham Forest possible starting lineup:
Horvath; Soh, Worrall, McKenna, Lowe; Cafu, Garner; Lolley, Carvalho, Zinckernagel; Silva

We say: Huddersfield Town 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Forest have not been heavily beaten in any of their league fixtures this season and we do not expect that to change here. Nevertheless, Huddersfield are playing with confidence in the final third, and that should prove to be the difference.
