Real Madrid Femenino and Vllaznia Women will only have pride to play for when the two sides meet on the final matchday of the Women's Champions League group stage on Thursday.

The hosts have picked up five points from as many games, while the Albanian champions have lost all of their group matches.

Match preview

Real Madrid managed to progress to the quarter-finals last term, but their 2022-23 European campaign will come to an end following the conclusion of Thursday's match.

Las Blancas began the group stage with a 2-0 win over Vllaznia, before they played out a goalless with Paris Saint-Germain on matchday two.

Their two meetings with Chelsea ended in a loss and a draw, and as a result, they needed to avoid defeat against PSG last week to send the battle for a quarter-final place to the final group game.

Unfortunately for the Spanish side, the trip to Paris resulted in a 2-1 defeat as Real Madrid failed to find a late equaliser following Claudia Zornoza's 81st-minute strike.

Although they are unable to reach the knockout rounds, Real Madrid will be determined to claim their second win of the group stage to round off the calendar year on a positive note.

Meanwhile, Vllaznia have struggled to compete with some of Europe's powerhouses in the group stage after losing all five of their matches.

They managed to hold Real Madrid to just two goals in their opening match of the main draw, but the floodgates opened in their previous four European games, beginning with an 8-0 defeat to Chelsea.

Vllaznia lost their two matches against PSG by a combined 9-0 scoreline, before they were comfortably beaten by the English champions last week.

Sophie Ingle, Fran Kirby, Katerina Svitkova and Maren Mjelde all found the net to condemn Vllaznia to a 4-0 defeat.

Having failed to score and pick up a point from their five group matches, the Albanian champions know that they face another tough test on Thursday, but they will want to give a good account of themselves in their final Champions League match of the season.

Team News

Real Madrid boss Alberto Toril has the majority of his squad available to him, and he could decide to make a couple of changes to the side that lost to PSG.

After coming off the bench to score a late goal in Paris, Zornoza may be rewarded with a place in the starting lineup, and she could be joined in the centre of midfield by Teresa Abelleira, who also featured as a second-half substitute last week.

Esther Gonzalez is expected to lead the line for the hosts, and she will be looking to add to the 12 goals that she has scored in all competitions this season.

As for the visitors, Matilda Gjergji will partner Sara Maliqi in the centre of defence, while Aleksandra Popovic and Lucije Gjini are expected to operate as the two full-backs.

Gresa Berisha dropped down to the bench last week, but she could be brought into the side to feature in central midfield.

Jehona Shala will have the lonely task of leading the line for Vllaznia, but she will be determined to help her team score their first goal of the group stage.

Real Madrid Femenino possible starting lineup:
Misa; Robles, Kathellen, Galvez, Carmona; Abelleira, Zornoza; Del Castillo, Weir, Feller; Gonzalez

Vllaznia Women possible starting lineup:
Williams-Mosier; Popovic, Gjergji, Maliqi, Gjini; Ramadani, Berisha, Franja, Cavanaugh, Doci; Shala

We say: Real Madrid Femenino 4-0 Vllaznia Women

Although there is little to play for, we think that Real Madrid will remain professional to round off their Champions League campaign with a comfortable victory.
