How Sheffield United could line up for their first game back

Sports Mole looks at how Sheffield United could line up for their first match back after lockdown, when they face Aston Villa.

Sheffield United will return to action in the Premier League knowing that they have the chance to record a significant victory in their season.

While the Blades sit in seventh place, registering three points in their game in hand against Aston Villa would move the club into fifth position, ahead of Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Should the campaign be halted again due to the coronavirus pandemic, getting the better of Villa may prove to be the difference when it comes to guaranteeing a place in Europe.

Ahead of their game in the West Midlands on June 17, Sports Mole predicts how Chris Wilder's side could line up against their relegation-threatened opponents.

Doubtful: Enda Stevens (calf)

At this time, it appears that Wilder has a fully-fit squad preparing for the resumption, meaning that Enda Stevens should be ready to play after a minor calf issue.

Although that should allow the Blades boss to name his tried-and-trusted back five, he has decisions to make further up the pitch.

John Fleck and Oliver Norwood will almost certainty start in central midfield, leaving Sander Berge and John Lundstram to battle it out for the remaining spot.

Having had more time to adjust to his new settings in Yorkshire after his January arrival, big-money signing Berge may be given the chance to impress.

Billy Sharp was the form striker before the enforced break, scoring three goals from four appearances in all competitions, and that should be enough for the veteran to retain his place.

Of the remaining three options in attack, Oliver McBurnie is expected to get the nod over Lys Mousset and David McGoldrick.
