Ronald Koeman "very disappointed" with defeat

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman admits that his side didn't deserve anything from their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has admitted that his side did not deserve anything from their Premier League match with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium this evening.

Goals from Steve Cook and Benik Afobe handed the Cherries a 2-0 victory at Dean Court, ending a four-match winless streak and condemning the Saints to a second league defeat in the space of four days.

Koeman acknowledged that his side were second best to the hosts, and questioned the hunger of his players following a 'very disappointing' performance.

"I'm very disappointed. They deserved more to win than we did because we had problems from the start. They were more aggressive. If you start like that it is difficult to change," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"We had problems because they did a good thing with left full-back as he played very forward. After that [tactical change] we had a little bit more control but we didn't create enough.

"We need to be sharper in defending set pieces. They were more hungry than us."

The defeat leaves Southampton seventh in the Premier League table.
