Sports Mole previews one of the few all-Premier League FA Cup third-round ties as Burnley host eight-time winners Tottenham Hotspur at Turf Moor.

Tottenham Hotspur go into their FA Cup third-round tie at Burnley on Monday on the back of their best result since Mauricio Pochettino became manager.

Harry Kane inspired Spurs to a 5-3 victory over London rivals Chelsea on New Year's Day as he scored twice and supplied two more at White Hart Lane.

It was the fifth time in six games that Spurs have netted at least twice, with Kane on the scoresheet in all of those wins to help the club climb to fifth in the table.

What Burnley lack in firepower they make up for in character, as shown by coming from behind to earn draws from successive Premier League away games.

The Clarets firstly shocked the champions by responding from two down to draw 2-2 at Manchester City, before pegging back Newcastle United three times in a New Year's Day thriller at St James' Park.

Sean Dyche named the same side for five consecutive games across the Christmas period, but his small squad and no-rotation policy will be tested by a number of injuries worries ahead of Tottenham's visit.

Captain Jason Shackell faces a late fitness test to see whether he will be fit to feature in a defence which is already without Michael Duff, Manchester United loanee Michael Keane and left-back Stephen Ward.

Dean Marney could miss the match against the club where he started his career due to illness, while George Boyd may be rested having covered a division-high 13 miles during Burnley's trip to Tyneside.

There could be rare starts for Danny Lafferty and Ross Wallace, but Dyche is likely to stick with the in-form strike partnership of Danny Ings and Ashley Barnes, with Sam Vokes in reserve on the bench.

Spurs are going well in the league, have League One opposition in the Capital One Cup semi-finals and are still in the Europa League, so the FA Cup may not be high on their list of priorities this season.

Expect Pochettino to make as many as 10 changes to the side which beat Chelsea, with Kane, Christian Eriksen, Nacer Chadli, Hugo Lloris, Kyle Walker, Jan Vertonghen and Federico Fazio all rested.

Algerian Nabil Bentaleb is on his way to the Africa Cup of Nations, while his midfield partner Ryan Mason is suffering from a hamstring injury. Erik Lamela is also unlikely to feature due to a minor calf problem.

Aaron Lennon, Paulinho and Roberto Soldado have all been linked with January moves away from the Lilywhites and could be given an opportunity to put themselves in the shop window at Turf Moor.

Burnley have been knocked out in the third round of the competition for the past four seasons and lost 2-1 at Tottenham, who are eight-time winners, but not since 1991, in the Premier League in December.
