Sports Mole previews Sunday's Ligue 1 clash between Strasbourg and Brest, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Strasbourg are seeking to win their third consecutive home game when they host Brest at the Stade de la Meinau on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the visitors are currently on a winless run of five games and occupy a place in the Ligue 1 relegation zone.

Match preview

Strasbourg are enjoying their best run of the season to date, recording two wins, one draw and one loss in their last four league outings.

Habib Diallo's strike earned Frederic Antonetti's side a point last time out away at Clermont, leaving them in 15th place just one point above the relegation zone.

However, Strasbourg have enjoyed two wins in their last two games at the Stade de la Meinau - a brace from Diallo was enough to secure all three points against basement boys Angers in their most recent home outing.

Prior to that, Les Bleu et Blanc defeated Montpellier 2-0 in front of their own fans, once again courtesy of a Diallo brace. Antonetti will be eager to see his side make it three wins on the spin on their home patch, and secure a victory which could prove vital in their bid to avoid relegation.

Les Bleu et Blanc had an excellent home record last season, winning 11 of the 19 games they played at the Stade de la Meinau, amassing 38 points - only Paris Saint-Germain, Rennes and Monaco had better records on their own patch.

Meanwhile, Brest's league woes continued against Lille last time out, despite taking the lead through an own goal from Tiago Djalo.

Bafode Diakite got the hosts back on level terms before a late strike from Alexsandro secured the three points for Paulo Fonseca's side, leaving Brest in the relegation zone in 18th place.

Indeed, the visitors have gone five league matches without prevailing in Ligue 1, and their last victory came against Angers on January 29.

Brest have only won four times in 25 matches so far this term, so Eric Roy will know that his side need to pick up points quickly if they are to survive in France's top flight.

Team News

Strasbourg will welcome back Jean Aholou to the squad, after the midfielder served the final match of his three-game suspension by sitting out of the action last weekend.

However, Mouhamadou Diarra will miss this weekend's clash, with the 19-year-old sidelined currently with a calf injury since the start of the month.

Mahdi Camara will be suspended for the trip to the Stade de la Meinau after the midfielder was given his marching orders against Lille last time out.

Franck Honorat and Brendan Chardonnet may also miss out on Sunday due to injury – the former has not featured for Brest since the 1-1 draw with Lens last month, while the latter has been absent since January.

Strasbourg possible starting lineup:
Sels; Doukoure, Djiku, Le Marchand; Guilbert, Sanson, Sissoko, Lienard, Sobol; Gameiro, Diallo

Brest possible starting lineup:
Bizot; Lala, Dari, Brassier, Locko; Lees-Melou; Dembele, Magnetti, Belkebla, Le Douaron; Arconte

We say: Strasbourg 2-0 Brest

Given Brest's struggles in recent weeks, we think Strasbourg can take all three points in this clash.

The home side are in good form on their own patch and will take confidence from their recent victories over Angers and Montpellier.
