Sam Allardyce "fined for speaking the truth"

Sam Allardyce believes that he was only speaking the truth, despite being fined by the FA.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has insisted that his fine for questioning the officials after the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United was for "speaking the truth".

Allardyce felt that West Ham should have been awarded at least one penalty for what he thought was a similar incident to the one that saw United awarded a spot kick.

"For me I spoke the truth, so if you like I have been fined for speaking the truth, but there you go, we move on," Sky Sports News quotes Allardyce as saying.

"What I had to do was present my case and give it to the panel and make sure they understood what I meant and there was no doubt I meant nothing other than the influence that happens at the big arenas that happens to everyone when you go there.

"Those influences can make people make decisions that are right or wrong, not just Phil Dowd but players and you as a manager."

West Ham are currently 11th in the Premier League.
