West Ham manager Sam Allardyce reveals that his side's second-half improvement in their 3-0 win over Hull City was due to them abandoning their 'tippy-tappy' playing style.

Sam Allardyce has revealed that West Ham United abandoned their "tippy-tappy" playing style to beat Hull City 3-0 in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Hammers were being held by the struggling Tigers before a three-goal second-half performance saw them run out easy winners at Upton Park.

Allardyce claims that switching to a more direct style was key to his side's improvement after the break.

"All this tippy-tappy stuff is all a load of bollocks", he told reporters after a victory which ended West Ham's six-match winless run in all competitions.

"Getting the ball into the opposition's box as quickly as you can with quality and getting it forward and in behind the opposition is definitely the best way forward.

"That's what we did in the second half and why we won the game."

Hammers co-chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold are believed to have demanded Allardyce to play more aesthetic football this season and the team have responded to sit seventh in the table after 22 games.
