Sam Allardyce not looking for Newcastle United revenge

Sam Allardyce says that he will not take West Ham to former club Newcastle on the final day with the hope that the Magpies are relegated from the Premier League.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has insisted that revenge is not on the agenda for him in Sunday's final-day visit to former club Newcastle United.

The relegation-threatened Magpies host the Hammers at St James' Park knowing that defeat, coupled with a Hull City win over Manchester United, would see them demoted to the Championship.

Allardyce endured a tumultuous eight-month spell in the North East before being sacked in 2008, but the 60-year-old has let bygones be bygones and bears no resentment toward the club.

"It's not about what happens to Newcastle for me. Some have suggested that I'm all up for us winning to send them down, but it's far too far down the road for any of that stuff," he told reporters.

"It's been a long time since we parted company and looking back to the past is never what I've been about because you can't affect what happens in the past. You learn from it and move on to the future.

"Since Newcastle I've had a fantastic time at Blackburn and then here, at West Ham. It's nearly seven years since I left Newcastle."

West Ham, who sit 11th in the Premier League table, cannot finish any higher than 10th.
