Kenny Jackett admits that Wolverhampton Wanderers missed out on a new striker prior to last week's transfer deadline, meaning the club must make do with loan signings.

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett has admitted that he plans on using the loan market in an attempt to strengthen his attacking options.

The Championship outfit are on the search for a new player in attack after being left with just two fit senior strikers - Adam Le Fondre and Benik Afobe.

Jackett was aiming to bring in new faces prior to last week's transfer deadline, but will now have to make do with temporary signings when the emergency loan window opens on Wednesday.

"We certainly tried [to bring in a striker] but no, there wasn't any luck," he is quoted as saying by the Express & Star. "It was a tough call through from Saturday night to Tuesday but both Kevin Thelwell and Jez [Moxey] made several significant bids.

"[The loan window] definitely does become an option, we will continue our recruitment and try to improve the squad. We want to get them back from international duty and make sure everyone is fit and available and then, as we go into the next batch of games, try to pick up as many points as we can."

Wolves are currently 12th in the Championship table following a slow start to the new campaign.
