England head coach Eddie Jones claims that his side could have had 60 points during their 40-9 Six Nations victory over Italy at the Stadio Olimpico.

England head coach Eddie Jones has praised his side for their "dominant" performance on their way to a 40-9 victory over Italy at the Stadio Olimpico this afternoon.

The Red Rose made it two wins from two in the Six Nations with a five-try victory over the perennial wooden spoon contenders, although it wasn't until the final half-hour that they began to race clear of Italy.

Jones insists that he expected the match to pan out that way, though, with Jonathan Joseph bagging a hat-trick and Owen Farrell adding a late score during a productive 30-minute spell at the end.

"We wanted to be two from two and we're two from two. We did some good things in the second half, in the first half we allowed Italy into the game," Jones told reporters.

"The first half set the second half up for us and I was pleased by the way that we put them away. We could have scored 60 points out there and in the end we were quite dominant.

"We weren't expecting to score a lot of points in the first half, we were expecting to do that in the second half and that's how it turned out We've had two games and two wins and no major injuries, so we're sailing along pretty well at the moment."

England now have a week off before hosting defending champions Ireland at Twickenham in their next Six Nations match.
