Arizona Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton could be ruled out for the rest of the season, according to a report.
Bruce Arians's side were confident that the 30-year-old would be fit to return to action in the playoffs after sustaining a knee injury against the St Louis Rams, which forced him to miss their clash against the Seattle Seahawks.
However, Stanton has sustained an infection from treatment he received from outside of the organisation which required arthroscopic surgery that could force him to miss the rest of the season, reports NFL Network.
Ryan Lindley will continue at quarterback in Stanton's absence against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
