Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has revealed that Ryan Lindley will receive his first career playoff start against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday.
Quarterback Drew Stanton will not be risked in the wildcard game after he missed practice all week, and he will now miss his third straight game with a right knee injury.
"Drew is not going to be able to play," Arians told reporters.
"He is close. But there's no way I'm risking it."
Lindley is 1-5 as a starter in his three-year career and is 0-2 this season in place of Stanton.
However, he played one of his best games in the NFL last Sunday in San Francisco where he completed 59% of his passes. He also threw for a career-high 316 yards and he averaged a career-high 8.1 yards per attempt while throwing the first two touchdown passes of his career.
