Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer does not believe that Ndamukong Suh's low block on John Sullivan was a malicious play.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer has expressed his belief that Ndamukong Suh's controversial low block was not done to intentionally injure John Sullivan.

Suh received a $100,000 (£63,600) fine for the play, which occurred during Sunday's match between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings, and is the latest in a long line of disciplinary issues for the defensive tackle.

However, Palmer, whose side will face Suh and the Lions this week, does not believe that there was anything malicious about the play, claiming that he could have done more damage if he was trying to.

"I think if he wanted to blow the guy's knee out, I think he would have," Palmer told The AP.

"I only saw it one time on a highlight and it looked like he was peeling back on a block and I think, and he's a smart guy and a strong guy, if he was physically trying to injure somebody, he would have. It was just a low block."

Suh is reportedly considering an appeal against the fine, which was the largest in NFL history without a suspension involving the loss of game checks.
