Barcelona sporting director Deco has reportedly held a meeting with Jhon Duran's agent, amid speculation that Aston Villa have named their asking price for the Colombian forward.
Duran has been in impressive form for Unai Emery's side this season, netting 12 goals in 26 competitive matches, including seven goals in 18 Premier League appearances.
The 21-year-old, who has developed a reputation for spectacular long-range efforts, forced his way ahead of Ollie Watkins in the Villa pecking order before he was sent off in the Boxing Day defeat to Newcastle United.
Villa fans will be eagerly anticipating Duran's return to action, with the striker currently serving a three-match ban for his reaction to the dismissal against the Magpies.
However, there is some uncertainty about Duran's future at Villa Park despite the fact that he is under contract until the summer of 2030.
Barcelona hold Duran meeting
According to Sport, Barcelona sporting director Deco held an informal meeting with Duran's agent several weeks ago.
The report claims that Barcelona held the meeting to discuss Duran being on the club's list of potential targets and establish whether the player would be excited by the prospect of playing for the Catalan giants.
While there is an interest in the Villa man, the meeting does not mean that Duran is the first-choice option on Barcelona's shortlist of striker targets.
Despite making contact with the player's agent, Barcelona do not appear to have any immediate intention of starting negotiations over a potential transfer.
Villa name Duran asking price
While Barcelona are unlikely to pursue a January move, Duran continues to attract interest from another European giant Paris Saint-Germain.
A recent report claimed that Villa could allow Duran to leave for the French capital in a player-plus-cash deal involving Randal Kolo Muani.
However, away from a possible swap deal, talkSPORT are reporting that Villa will demand at least £60m to part ways with the Colombia international.
The report confirms PSG's interest in the Villa striker, with the French champions seemingly keen to add to their attacking options, which include Bradley Barcola, Lee Kang-in, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Goncalo Ramos. body check tags ::
