The Arizona Cardinals have begun talks with wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald over an agreement to ensure that he finishes his career with the franchise.
The Cardinals are looking for relief on the salary cap hit tied with Fitzgerald's current deal as it will limit what they are able to do in free agency.
While the team would make significant room by releasing him, it is understood that they do not plan to part company with the 31-year-old, according to NFL.com.
It is reported that Fitzgerald will likely need to take a pay cut this summer in order to stay in Arizona, after also restructuring his deal last year to help the team.
However, it is expected that a decision will be made on his future before March 14, as that is the day the team owes him a significant roster bonus fee.
