Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel has pledged to donate to charity with every touchdown pass that he throws.
Rookie Manuel has teamed up with Camp Kesem, a non-profit organisation that supports children whose parents are or were cancer sufferers.
The charity's initiative 'Scoring For Good' encourages participating NFL players to donate funds following different plays.
Manuel is currently injured, but has declared that he will be pledging once he gets back on to the football field.
He told the NFL Associated Press: "When my mom was diagnosed, my life changed.
"Camp Kesem's mission is one that I support deeply as I can relate directly to each child they help.
"I am honoured to be a part of 'Scoring For Good' and this larger effort to recognize kids affected by a parent's cancer."
Manuel's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
