The Buffalo Bills beat the New York Jets 22-17 as head coach Rex Ryan enjoys success on return to his former side.

The Buffalo Bills have continued their recent dominance over the New York Jets by claiming a 22-17 victory at the Metlife Stadium.

The two offenses struggled to click in the early stages of the game as Tyrod Taylor and New York's Ryan Fitzpatrick were held up in their respective drives forward, but it was the hosts who registered the first score of the game when Randy Bullock converted a 29-yard field goal.

Buffalo hit back with a 47-yard field goal from Dan Carpenter, and it soon became nine points in nine seconds as Devin Smith fumbled while attempting to collect the kickoff, which allowed Duke Williams to recover the ball and sprint into the endzone from 16 yards out.

Dan Carpenter missed the chance to add the extra point, but he was on target just before half time as a field goal from 41 yards handed the Bills a nine-point advantage during the interval.

Rookie Karlos Williams extended his impressive run early in the third quarter by collecting the pass from Taylor before sprinting past two Jets players to complete the 26-yard score and become just the second player to score a touchdown in each of his first six games.

Another field goal from Carpenter made it 22-3, but the Jets threatened to launch a comeback when Fitzpatrick fired a pass to Brandon Marshall, who eased past a couple of rivals to reach the endzone in the corner.

The two offenses struggled in a spell of eight fourth-quarter minutes without a touchdown, before the Jets reduced the deficit again when the Bills failed to stop Eric Decker from collecting Fitzpatrick's pass for the 31-yard touchdown.

New York quickly got the ball back on a fumbled punt on Buffalo's next drive, but they missed a good chance on fourth down when Fitzpatrick sent the ball just beyond the outstretched hand of Demario Davis in the endzone.

Bacarri Rambo finished the game by intercepting a Fitzpatrick pass as the Jets desperately searched for a touchdown in the closing seconds in an effort which ended in disappointment and ensured that Buffalo matched their record after nine games.
