The San Francisco 49ers have taken a slender 13-10 lead into half time of their divisional playoff match against the Carolina Panthers this evening.
The 49ers went ahead on the opening drive of the match when Phil Dawson successfully kicked a field goal from 49 yards.
Dawson was on target again later in the first quarter when he slotted a 33-yard kick between the posts to double his side's lead, giving the 49ers a 6-0 advantage.
The Panthers registered on the scoreboard for the first time early in the second quarter when Cam Newton threw an inch-perfect 31-yard pass over the shoulder of Steve Smith, who collected it on the left side of the endzone.
The hosts edged further ahead with just under five minutes remaining in the half when Graham Gano kicked a 24-yard field goal to open up a four-point gap.
It would be the 49ers who would have the last say of the half, however, regaining the advantage with just 14 seconds remaining when Vernon Davis did brilliantly to get his feet down in the endzone while catching a one-yard Colin Kaepernick pass.
