Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera has revealed that running back Jonathan Stewart is stepping up his recovery from injury.
Stewart underwent surgery on his right ankle during the off-season and as a result was placed on his side's physically unable to perform list, which has prevented him from playing in the Panthers' first six games of the NFL campaign.
"We'll see. He's at a point where he's doing a lot more. But he's been doing it on the side," Rivera told Charlotte Observer.
"Ryan [Vermillion] will work him out again tomorrow and see how he feels and we'll make a determination as we get ready for Wednesday's practice."
The Panthers are 2-3 in their season following their 35-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
