The Chicago Bears confirm that they have appointed Adam Gase to become their offensive coordinator after the 36-year-old was allowed to leave the Denver Broncos.

The Chicago Bears have announced that they have hired Adam Gase as their new offensive coordinator.

The 36-year-old joins the Bears after six years with the Denver Broncos, six of which he served as their offensive coordinator.

Gase interviewed for several head coaching jobs across the NFL for the past two seasons, including turning down an approach from the Cleveland Browns last year.

He guided the Broncos to become the leading points scorers in a single NFL season in the 2013 campaign, but saw his offense put up just eight points against the Seattle Seahawks in their crushing defeat in Super Bowl XLVIII.

The Broncos returned to form in the 2014 season, but struggled towards the end of the campaign as Peyton Manning sustained a quadriceps injury which limited his ability to throw downfield.

The 38-year-old's injury led to his team's loss in the divisional round of the playoffs to the Indianapolis Colts, which saw head coach John Fox leave the Broncos with his staff also being allowed to void their contracts if a new club approached them.

Fox became the new Bears' head coach last week, and has now hired Gase to link up with him once more at Soldier Field.

The Bears' scored just 319 points in the 2014 season, which left them 23rd in the NFL in scoring.
