Chicago Bears quarterback Josh McCown has insisted that he is still the backup quarterback for his side despite his 2-0 record starting this season.
McCown has stepped into the lineup for the injured Jay Cutler and led Marc Trestman's side to their sixth victory of the season as they defeated the Baltimore Ravens in overtime.
"I have said this over and over again — I'm the backup quarterback on this team," McCown told the Chicago Tribune. "The way that I serve my team is to play when the starter is not healthy.
"Jay is our starting quarterback, there is no doubt about that. So for me, I need to serve our team, in my role.
"Hopefully whenever Jay is healthy, we are still in a position to get everything we want to get accomplished and done when he takes back over. That's my mindset."
The Bears are second in the NFC North with a 6-4 record after week 11.
