Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski has said that Brandon Weeden will start as quarterback next weekend after Jason Campbell sustained a head injury on Sunday.
Campbell was hit on multiple occasions during the 27-11 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, first injuring his ribs and then leaving the game permanently after suffering concussion in the third quarter.
Due to NFL ruling, Campbell will now have to sit out of practice all week, meaning Weeden is likely to come into the lineup in his place.
Chudzinski told Dispatch.com: "Anytime your quarterback goes down, it's tough.
"That's when the next guy has to step in and be able to go and operate. We'll get Brandon ready to play this week and start the next game."
Weeden will get his chance when the Browns face the Jacksonville Jaguars next weekend.
