Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer is adamant that he must take his chance after being named as the club's starter for the 2014 season.
Hoyer was selected ahead of first-round pick Johnny Manziel as he outperformed the 21-year-old during training camp and Mike Pettine's side's pre-season matches.
"It's been my mentality this whole off-season to come out here and act like the starter and be the starter," Hoyer told the club's official website.
"When coach Pettine told me I'm sure I cracked a smile. You realise all the work I put in, now here's my shot. Now just go out, and run with it.
"All you can do is ask for an opportunity and to go out and try and seize it. Now that it's here, it's time to work harder."
Hoyer threw for 615 yards along with five touchdowns to three interceptions in three matches for the Browns last season.
