Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has insisted that the franchise still remain the most popular in the NFL, despite a lack of success in recent years.
The Cowboys have failed to reach the post-season since 2009, finishing 8-8 in each of the last three campaigns.
Although they have under-performed on the field, Jones has argued that the team's entertainment value counts for a lot.
Jones told the Dallas Morning News: "As you know, the Cowboys have not gone to the playoffs in several years. We have not gone, yet we're the most popular TV show there is on television. We lead all teams in TV ratings.
"We lead, 24 of the last top 25 shows were NFL games, and any time the Cowboys play they're up there at the top and leading. Now, what causes that? What causes that is creating some aura, creating some excitement."
The Cowboys have won just two playoff matches since they won the Super Bowl in 1995.
