Jerry Jones: 'Jason Garrett not involved in offense'

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones reveals that head coach Jason Garrett will not be involved in the offensive play-calling duties next season.

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has revealed that head coach Jason Garrett will not be involved in play-calling duties for the offense next season.

The Cowboys planned for Bill Callahan to call the plays in 2013, although in practice it was Garrett who took up the role of coordinator on a day-to-day basis.

However, Jones insists that the same will not happen in the next campaign, with new passing game coordinator Scott Linehan linking up with Callahan, who has been demoted to a running game role, to call the plays.

"There's a difference when you're sitting in the room and as the head coach you say, 'Wait a minute, y'all put some salt and pepper in there,' then after it's already been cooked and you're tasting it outside the room and you say, 'It might need a little salt and pepper,'" Jones is quoted as saying by ESPN.

"It's a big difference. One you're involved in the cooking, one you're not involved. Jason was involved in the cooking last year. That was just a fact and everybody knew that or should. That won't be the case this year."

The Cowboys missed out on the playoffs for a fourth consecutive year last season, ending the campaign with an 8-8 record.
