Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach believes that Tony Romo is good enough to play in a championship-winning team.

Roger Staubach has expressed his belief that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is good enough to play for a championship-winning franchise.

Romo's future at the Cowboys was called into question after his side missed out on the playoffs for the third consecutive season last year, with Romo throwing three interceptions in their crucial NFC East decider against Washington Redskins.

"He's done so much. They haven't attained the playoff success that they'd like to have, but you know, at quarterback... there's no way in the world we would've won Super Bowls without the great teams I was on," said Staubach, who won two Super Bowls with the Cowboys.

"And I think last year, their running game was 31st. Tony doesn't complain, doesn't push it off on anybody, but the things he's done, I really feel he's a championship quarterback.

"He just needs a few pieces around him. I think he deserves a lot of credit in what he's accomplished so far with the Cowboys."

Romo currently holds the Dallas Cowboys franchise record for the number of touchdown passes as well as being named in the Pro Bowl three times.
