Tony Romo marks his return to the field following his injury layoff to inspire the Dallas Cowboys to a 24-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins.

Tony Romo returned to action for the first time in nine weeks to guide the Dallas Cowboys to a 24-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins, ending the club's seven-game losing streak.

Neither team were able to find the scoreboard in the opening quarter of the game as a downpour in Miami limited the passing ability of the teams.

Romo managed to get into a rhythm to lead his team into the redzone, but his attempted strike to Dez Bryant for a touchdown was intercepted by Brent Grimes on the goalline.

However, the Cowboys were to take the lead at the start of the second quarter when Ryan Tannehill was intercepted by Rolando McClain, who was able to walk into the endzone for a 12-yard score.

Dallas extended their lead when Romo threw his first touchdown pass since week two as he lofted the ball deep for Terrance Williams to make a 31-yard grab over two defenders to find the endzone.

The Dolphins responded just before the break when Tannehill escaped the pass-rush and ran over to the right side where he found a gap to drill the ball into the arms of Jordan Cameron.

In the second half, Miami found their rhythm once again on offense and Tannehill delivered a fine strike over the head of Byron Jones for Kenny Stills to record a 29-yard touchdown to tie the match.

The Cowboys were able to bounce back from a turnover from Romo to regain the lead when he threw his pass between two defenders in the endzone for Bryant to claim.

Dan Bailey kicked a 30-yard field goal for Dallas to extend their advantage to 10 points, and the Dolphins were unable to mount a comeback as they slipped to defeat.

The result secures the Cowboys' first win since week two of the campaign, lifting them to 3-7 in the NFC East, while the Dolphins fall to 4-6.
