The Denver Broncos have confirmed that head coach John Fox has been released from hospital following a heart operation.
Fox collapsed last week and was admitted to hospital where he underwent surgery for a aortic valve replacement, which was successfully completed.
He will now take time to recover from the operation as he has been temporarily replaced by defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio as head coach of the team.
Fox said in a statement on the club's official website: "Although I'm eager to return to coaching, my number one focus is my health. I believe in our players and have full confidence in Jack Del Rio and our staff.
"While it's extremely difficult to be away from the team on Sunday in San Diego, I'll be cheering them on from home just like the many Broncos fans who have supported me throughout this process."
The Broncos face the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.
