Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker has admitted that his side were not prepared for the volume of the crowd at the start of the Super Bowl.
The Broncos started the NFL title game in the worst possible way as center Manny Ramirez snapped the ball early which led to a safety, and it was all downhill from there as John Fox's side slumped to a 35-point defeat at MetLife Stadium.
"That's the way the start of any Super Bowl is - it's going to be loud," Welker told reporters. "The fans are going to be yelling.
"They don't really know why they're yelling - it's just the start of the Super Bowl. We didn't prepare very well for that, and it showed."
Welker had eight catches for 84 yards in the Super Bowl.
