Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has refused to change his playing style despite being handed a sixth league fine in the space of less than four years.
Suh's latest indiscretion saw him make an illegal low block on Minnesota Vikings centre John Sullivan, resulting in him being handed the largest fine for an on-field incident in NFL history on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old has reportedly told his advisers to look into the potential of launching an appeal against the fine, but insists that he won't change.
"My play speaks for itself. I don't change. I'm going to always play tough, hard," Suh told reporters.
"That's the way I was brought up at Nebraska, where I really learned football from the Pelinis and that staff, and I'm going to continue to play hard, play blue-collar football.
"You're never going to change people. I've always understood, there are people that live on the far side or on the near side or in between. They jump over and back and forth from the fence. That's not really of my concern, I'm just going to be consistent to who I am."
Suh's Lions team will face the Arizona Cardinals in their second match of the season on Sunday.
