Man City 3-3 Feyenoord: Highlights, man of the match, stats as Dutch side perform miraculous late fightback at the Etihad

:Headline: Man City 3-3 Feyenoord: Highlights, man of the match, stats as Dutch side perform miraculous late fightback at the Etihad:
Manchester City capitulate in the final 15 minutes to squander a three-goal lead and draw 3-3 with Feyenoord in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium.
Sports Mole

Manchester City have seen their woes deepen as they were pegged back from 3-0 up to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord at the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League this evening.

The Premier League champions, who came into the night on a five-game losing run, were three goals to the good with just 15 minutes remaining, but conspired to throw their healthy lead away in an incredible turn of events.

Anis Hadj Moussa firstly capitalised on a dreadful backpass by Josko Gvardiol to round Ederson and make it 3-1 with a quarter of an hour remaining to the disgust of City manager Pep Guardiola, who was seen sitting with his head in his hands some time after the goal.

A bizarre ricochet off the post from Jordan Lotomba's header then gave Santiago Gimenez the easiest of finishes shortly after to make it 3-2, before David Hancko sent the away support into delirium with one minute left of the 90, equalising for Brian Priske's side to the dismay of the Etihad crowd.

It had started so perfectly for Man City, as top scorer Erling Haaland got the ball rolling from the penalty spot late in the first half, racking up 50 goal involvements in the Champions League in just 44 games in the process.

Ilkay Gundogan netted a second before Haaland added to his tally shortly before the hour, with City extending their lead from one goal to three in the blink of an eye early in the second half.

Absolutely nobody could have seen what coming, though, and despite frantic efforts to salvage the win, City were unable to break down a stubborn Feyenoord rearguard during five minutes of injury time, as the game unbelievably ended 3-3.

The result will only further send Guardiola's men into crisis, with the full-time whistle being met by a chorus of boos from the home fans, and while the five-game losing run is over, this result will feel more like a loss than any other in that run.

It leaves Man City 15th and in danger of slipping down the standing following Wednesday's matches, while Feyenoord's unlikely point puts them 20th.

MAN CITY VS. FEYENOORD HIGHLIGHTS

Haaland goal vs. Feyenoord (44th min, Man City 1-0 Feyenoord)

It is 50 up for goal involvements in the Champions League for Haaland! Quinten Timber is penalised for a foul on the Norwegian, and he steps up and sends Timon Wellenreuther the wrong way from the spot.

Haaland goal vs. Feyenoord (50th min, Man City 2-0 Feyenoord)

Gundogan settles the nerves at the Etihad, latching on to a cleared corner with a wonderful volley that did fortuitously take a deflection in front of Wellenreuther to make it 2-0.

Haaland goal vs. Feyenoord (53th min, Man City 3-0 Feyenoord)

City carve open the visiting defence yet against and a brilliant low cross from Matheus Nunes is met on the stretch by Haaland who scores his second of the night.

Hadj Moussa goal vs. Man City (75th min, Man City 3-1 Feyenoord)

Maybe it is not all over yet! Gvardiol is far too casual in possession and loops an awkward ball towards his own goal, allowing Hadj Moussa to nip in, round Ederson, and score from an acute angle to pull one back for the visitors.

Gimenez goal vs. Man City (82th min, Man City 3-2 Feyenoord)

What a turn up this is! Just as Man City thought they were cruising to an easy home win, Feyenoord have got another one back in very strange circumstances. Jordan Lotomba latches onto a left-wing cross and after just narrowly avoiding an offside call, inadvertently hits the inside of the near post, causing it to land perfectly for substitute Gimenez to bundle the ball in from close range.

Hancko goal vs. Man City (89th min, Man City 3-3 Feyenoord)

And there it is! The nerves inside the Etihad have mounted and the unthinkable has happened, with Ederson charging out of his goal and completely missing the ball, handing Igor Paixao the opportunity to pick out Hancko at the back post, and he heads home a quick-fire third for Feyenoord! Man City have utterly caved in!

MAN OF THE MATCH - DAVID HANCKO

Haaland was a shoo-in for the man of the match gong, but after a lung-busting run up the pitch to get on the end of Paixao's cross to level the scoreline on 89 minutes, and getting his head or foot on every delivery in the box to keep City at bay in injury time means Hancko snatches it at the death.

MAN CITY VS. FEYENOORD MATCH STATS

Shots: Man City 18 - 10 Feyenoord
Shots on target: Man City 9 - 5 Feyenoord

BEST STATS

WHAT NEXT?

Man City will have pick themselves off the floor after two horrifying results on home soil when they face runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, while Feyenoord have a home encounter with Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie.
