Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz has insisted that it will not take long for new recruit Julian Stanford to get up to speed with the side's special teams plays.
Schwartz said that it will help that Stanford, who was drafted in as cover for Travis Lewis's suspension, has played under special teams coordinator John Bonamego in the past.
"He's a guy that played last year in the special teams system that was the same," Schwartz told the club's official website. "We brought in some guys for a workout, we liked what he looked like then, we liked a little bit of stuff that he had done last year.
"We'll plug him in and get him ready to play. It helps [that he is familiar with Bonamego], but that wasn't the only reason. I'm familiar with the terminology, but you're not going to put me out there in coverage."
Stanford has also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
