Minnesota Vikings centre John Sullivan feels "lucky" to have escaped a serious injury following Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh's illegal low block on him on Sunday.

Minnesota Vikings centre John Sullivan has revealed that he feels "lucky" not to have been injured by Ndamukong Suh's "bad" low block on him during his side's loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Suh hit Sullivan around the knees some way behind the play as Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy raced through for what would have been an interception touchdown but for an official's flag on the tackle.

Suh has since claimed that the block was unintentional, and Sullivan seems to have accepted the Pro Bowler's explanation despite almost suffering a serious injury.

"That was bad. He apologized and said there was no intent to injure. It's fine. I think guys get caught up in the play sometimes," Sullivan told reporters.

"Sometimes things happen. It's hard to remember what you did when you get caught up in the moment. I appreciate the fact he came up and said something.

"It looked like it could have led to a pretty serious injury, so I feel like I'm pretty lucky today to be relatively unscathed."

The NFL have confirmed that they will review the play and Suh could be facing a hefty fine having been disciplined a number of times for unnecessary roughness in previous seasons.
