Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy has insisted that he is still "proud" of his team despite seeing them eliminated from the playoffs at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers last night.
Phil Dawson scored a field goal as time expired to seal a 23-20 victory for the 49ers over a Packers side that has been plagued by injuries all season.
They were without star linebacker Clay Matthews for yesterday's match, while cornerback Sam Shields and linebacker Mike Neal were injured during the game to leave the Packers' with a threadbare defence.
"I'm just very proud of this team as far as their ability to continue to overcome adversity. It hit us at every turn, it hit us again today and these guys just keep fighting and fighting," McCarthy told The AP.
The 49ers will now face the Carolina Panthers in the Divisional round of the playoffs on Sunday.
