Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel says that deciding to leave school and turn pro is like a weight being lifted from his shoulders.

College football star Johnny Manziel has revealed that making the decision to leave the Texas A&M Aggies and declare for the 2014 NFL Draft was not an easy one.

Manziel impressed greatly in two seasons in the NCAA, becoming the first ever freshman to win the Heisman Trophy in 2012. The 21-year-old quarterback led the Aggies to 20 wins, throwing 93 touchdown passes.

Upon making his decision, he told CBS Sports: "After long discussions with my family, friends, teammates, and coaches, I have decided to make myself available for the 2014 NFL Draft.

"The decision was such a tough one for me because of how much I wanted to go back and be with all those guys that I love playing with, and to work with Coach Kevin Sumlin and Coach Jake Spavital and be part of a program that's continuing to grow. But I felt like this is what's best for me now.

"I feel very relieved. It's a weight off my shoulders. I'm ready to become a professional and dedicate myself to making my dream a reality of becoming the best quarterback I can be."

Many NFL experts are expecting Manziel to be a first-round pick during the Draft, with the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders and Minnesota Vikings all rumoured to be looking at quarterback options this spring.
