Chuck Pagano has said that he expects Trent Richardson's statistics to improve as the season progresses.

The running back, who moved to the Indianapolis Colts in a trade earlier this year, has averaged 2.8 yards per carry in his eight games with the team.

The head coach told reporters: "Trent's numbers are going to come. He's a good back. He just got here. He hasn't been here as long as other guys, and I'm not making any excuses for him.

"We're going to stay patient, and he's going to have a breakout game. His yards will come."

Richardson has 272 rushing yards, 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns since moving to the Colts.
