Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano has fired a warning at running back Dan Herron, who fumbled twice during his team's win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Despite Herron offering the team a dual threat both on the ground and via the pass, his two drops cost his side valuable clock time - something they might regret should he repeat the trick against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
Speaking about facing the Broncos' second-ranked defense, Pagano told ESPN: "You just can't do it. You can't do it. Dan had a great day on Sunday - minus the two times he put the ball on the ground.
"He understands it, I understand it, everybody in Indy understands it. Everybody in this room understands that you can't put the ball on the ground and there's nothing more precious than the football and possessing the football.
"He's a grown man and he understands the ramifications that come with it. He's going to continue to work at it."
Herron now has four fumbles to his name this season, with three of them having been recovered by Colts opposition.
