Gus Bradley has said that he has been encouraged by Blaine Gabbert's progress this week.
The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback missed the end of the pre-season schedule with a hairline fracture in his throwing hand.
The head coach told the team's website: "He did a little better job than [Thursday]. We're encouraged with what we saw from Blaine. He took steps in the right direction.
"It may go up until Sunday, pre-game, when we get a chance to see him. It's important to see how he comes out the next couple of days. He's not 100% and may have some soreness, but it can't get any worse."
The Jaguars face the Kansas City Chiefs in their opening game of the 2013 season.
