Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell has expressed his belief that his side achieved what they wanted to in claiming players off waivers.
The Jaguars acquired all seven players that they entered a claim on, adding Stephen Burton, Winston Guy, Jacques McClendon, Clay Harbor, DJ Williams, Chris McCoy and JT Thomas to their roster ahead of the new season.
Caldwell has made a big point of adding pace to his side since he joined the franchise in January and believes that the recent acquisitions have done exactly that.
"We didn't completely [accomplish] that in the off-season. We felt we did that [Sunday]," Caldwell told reporters.
"A lot it became opportunity and what became available. We weren't sure what teams were going to keep and what they were going to release.
"When guys became available, it's easy to say, 'go claim that guy', but that's hard because you then have to make tough decisions on guys who were here all of training camp and worked hard."
The Jaguars, who ended last season with a 2-14 record, will get their 2013 campaign underway against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
