Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Eric Berry has revealed that he was emotional on his return to the field after his battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma.
The 26-year-old was diagnosed with the illness last season and was ruled out for the majority of the 2014 campaign as he received treatment.
Berry managed to overcome the problems and returned to field at Arrowhead Stadium for the first time since last October in his side's pre-season win over the Seattle Seahawks.
He told reporters: "All those emotions you have just riding through that parking lot you have to be part of the Kansas City Chiefs family to understand how that feels. Everyone is grilling out and having a good time.
"But every time you come through, it's like they know when a player is coming. They stop and they wave, and they just give so many words of encouragement.
"It's almost like a pre-pep game talk. Just seeing those guys out there, it does a lot for me emotionally."
Berry has recorded 289 tackles, 5.5 sacks and eight interceptions in his five years in the NFL.
