Matt Cassel has signed a two-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings following his release from the Kansas City Chiefs.
The quarterback was cut from the AFC West side's roster yesterday, having led them to the worst record in the league last season.
The 30-year-old will be guaranteed a salary of $3.7m (£2.44m) in his first year with the side.
The Chiefs signed former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith earlier in the off-season, with head coach Andy Reid already confirming that Smith will be the starter for the 2013 season.
The Vikings lost to the Green Bay Packers in the wild card round of the playoffs when starting quarterback Christian Ponder was out with an arm injury.
