Chelsea reportedly decide to recall Aaron Anselmino from his loan spell with Boca Juniors.
Back in August, the Blues committed to a deal said to be worth £15.6m to sign the prospect from the Argentine giants.
Rather than make the immediate move to Stamford Bridge, the 19-year-old was allowed to continue his development at his current club for a further 12 months.
However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have taken the decision to take an earlier look at the defender.
Anselmino to link up with Chelsea first team?
The report suggests that Anselmino will travel to London before the end of the week to link up with Enzo Maresca's squad.
Anselmino will seemingly spend a number of weeks training at the club's Cobham training ground before it is determined whether he will go elsewhere.
Earlier this month, it was claimed that Chelsea were open to loaning the starlet to a European club in order to aid his development.
Whether that occurs is seemingly dependent on how Anselmino fares in due course with their being hopes that he could prove to be a shrewd piece of business in the long term.
A total of 18 appearances were made for Boca Juniors during 2024, including 12 in the top flight before he suffered another hamstring injury.
Previously, Chelsea have allegedly been contemplating a recall for Anselmino to play a greater part in his fitness and recovery work.
Would Anselmino return increase changes of outgoings?
Chelsea are known to be keen to part ways with Ben Chilwell in January in order to reduce their outgoings. The left-back has played just 45 minutes of football this season.
While Anselmino is not a like-for-like alternative at left-back, he could theoretically act as a straight alternative in Chelsea's Premier League squad.
With Levi Colwill able to deputise at left-back when required, Anselmino may potentially take on a role where he becomes an extra option at centre-back.
An appearance in Premier League 2 could be his first port of call unless Chelsea hand him a spot in the squad for the upcoming FA Cup tie at home to Morecambe. body check tags ::
