Miami Dolphins tight end Dustin Keller has been ruled out of the entire 2013 NFL season with a knee injury.
Keller's leg bent backwards under a tackle from DJ Swearinger in his side's loss to the Houston Texans on Saturday night and the 28-year-old immediately clutched his right knee in pain.
The severity of the injury was unclear at first, but it has since been reported that Keller tore his ACL, MCL, PCL and dislocated his knee.
However, the former New York Jets man insists that he does not want people to feel sorry for him and has vowed to come back as a better player.
"I want everyone to know that as disappointing as this is I don't want anybody feeling sorry for me," Keller told the official NFL website.
"I promise I'm going to come back stronger, faster and be a better player than before. I would like to thank all my family, friends and teammates for their prayers and support."
Swearinger has insisted that the tackle was a legal one, but wished Keller a speedy recovery from the injury.
