Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman feels that his side's lack of production in the run game has cost them this season.
Running backs Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas have struggled and have combined for a total of just 1,042 yards on 267 carries at an average of 3.9 yards an attempt.
"We really haven't had many explosive runs this year which is not good, we need to continue to build towards that," Sherman told the Miami Herald.
"A lack of productivity in the run game caused me to veer off into another direction."
The Dolphins go into the final game of the campaign needing to beat the New York Jets and for the Baltimore Ravens to lose to reach the playoffs, following their defeat to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
